Evening/Night at Times Square- Ian

We went on the NYC trip in the evening/night time in order to capture pictures that we were not able to during the day time. One type of photos that came out differently at night were the bottom up pictures of buildings with the sky in the background. These pictures evoked a completely different mood than the same picture would have in the daytime. Also, the scale of the building is harder the see with the sky being black. Another type of picture I was able to take was photos with light drawing. I was able to do this by extending the shutter speed and shaking the camera after pressing the shutter button. This technique completely distort the photo, however, it creates an abstract display of lights.

Ahnad's Evening in Times Square

On May 23rd I took a trip to Times Square during the night time to capture the details of lights all around. The reason we went at night was because during the daytime you wouldn't be able to see how the lights in the city really look. In the first picture the leading lights of the diner caught my attention so I used the -1 aperture to show more details. For the second picture the red flare of the light seemed appealing as it was surrounded by white light, I used the -1 aperture and took the photo on an angle.

Evening/Night at Times Square

The reason behind this trip was that we wanted to see how New York was at night time and how the lights would react. As you can see in the pictures above, the lights came out the way they did in the top and bottom picture because the shutter speed was set to be open for for a longer time. This was able to be accomplished by using the TV mode which stands for "time value" mode, this is how the light reacted the way they did. For the picture in the middle i set the shutter speed to be open for a very minimal amount of time but set the aperture so that light could come in, and the results where fantastic. Overall the trip in my opinion was a success and i could not have been any more happy with the outcome.

Evening/Night at Time Square Carlos Espinal

We went to Time Square at night because our assignment was to take photographs of the lights at time square. Finding the right setting for the camera was hard because some lights and some locations were brighter than others. One of my favorite photos from this trip was a lamp In a piano store. I was no allowed to go inside the piano store so I took the photograph from out side.  My second favorite photo was the H&S art sing because the background is completely dark and there is a nice leading line.  My third photo is called Shake Shack light streak. Doing  a light streak photo was difficult because I did not have the right equipment to do it and I had to play a lot with the settings of the camera until i finally got it right.  It was a nice trip at the end and over all I had a lot of fun I I wish I could repeat it again.

Night at Times Square

The class took a trip to Time square at night. The class arrived around 6:30 and took photos so we can have photos to compare to the ones we take at night. The reason we took pictures at night was to capture the lights. My first photo was during the day i keep the EV at 0 to see what will happen, choosing 0 Ev was the best choose. My next picture was taken at night around 8:30 when i first took the picture it was too dark to see, so i put the EV at -0.3. My last picture was taken around the same time as the second one. I used the same setting for this picture as i did for the second one.

Evening/ Night at Times Square – Chris Alicea

Our trip to Times Square New York, was a new and interesting experience because most photos taken in our class was either indoors or in broad daylight. We went at night in order to capture the essence  of light in darkness and how we could can be bring it to life. Walking around at night, I noticed New York was as lively as it would be in day time; busy streets, sidewalks filled with people– but what stood out most were the lights. With the lights brightening up the city, I was able to capture things that most people wouldn't normally notice– the light bulbs above them– the color, pattern, shape, and and intensity. What was invisible to everyone was the streaks of lights from the cars. By prolonging the shutter speed, the camera allows to blur the image. What I did was set my camera on a steady platform and set a timer of 10 seconds while, pointed at a busy street while thew cars move across. The only the the camera captures is the light and how it moves with the car while darkening the surroundings.

Evening at Time Square Jack

We went on a trip to Time Square at night because we wanted to explore our cameras ability to manipulate light. I was able to take a picture of the flood light while it was still bright outside and make the picture look like it was taken at midnight. I used a long shutter speed to to capture lights while they were moving with a low ISO to create light trails. For the picture of the floodlight, i used a fast shutter speed with an ISO of 800 used -2 for the exposure compensation. Going to New York at night was very different then any other time we went because we had to use our cameras in a different way to capture the trails of light and capturing the contrast between the artificial lights and the night sky. sky

May 23, 2018 NYC night trip

We went at night because you aren't able to get the same pictures as during the daytime. The Picture you see here I wouldn't be able to take during the morning. During the daytime the light would most likely be off or not good enough for a picture. The photos would look plain and it would have no meaning. These photos have life in them they show something about New York.

Night at Time Square David

On Wednesday evening we went to New York, with the sole purpose of taking pictures of light. This is why we went to Time Square at night. This tip was the best one during this course because I learned this awesome technique with the shutter speed, where the lights stand out and look blurry.

Night at Times Square

I captured the photos above at New York times square. We were required to take photos of lights and I'm glad I did my best in doing so. The three photos above marks the ending of my photography class. I enjoyed this class  a lot and learned good lessons.

Evening at Times Square

The reason that my class went to New York during the night was to get a whole different perspective. Usually my class goes during the day and when there is a lot of sun. Now that we got to experience New York City in the dark, I was able to see how much of a difference light can make in the dark. I was able to focus on the details of the signs and how the lights were arranged to make something stand out and be so clear. I think that this represents what New York City really is, it is the city that never sleeps. It captures the essence and gives out an image, image that shows that New York is not as bad as people portray it to be. This catches the eye of the people and lead them to come to New York City and visit.

Night at Times Square Xavier

We went to Times Square at night because we planned to take pictures of the beautiful lights in New York. The camera I was using didn't have the setting "fireworks" so I tried my very best to take pictures. I was able to take pictures of the lights of by putting the ISO at 800 because at the time we got there it was already getting dark. I was fascinated by the lights inside the buildings, the design of the chandelier were just amazing to look at. I changed the exposure composition value to -1 to give it a different look. I've never went to Times Square at night just to take pictures of the lights. I would definitely go again and take pictures in Times Square.

Night at times Square- Pierre

We went to Times square in the evening because we had to take picture of the light and to show you the beauty of the light in NewYork specially times squares. with those light i make some nice design as you can see, and make them pretty.

Justin... NYC night

We went at night because Dr.Lansang wanted us to capture all the possible light sources we could.  It showed how photography differed from daylight and night.  I really like night light because it shows you the hidden figures that you can't see in the daylight.  I rather take photos at night than daylight because night light seems more cooler and better.  Some things I was able to do with the lights at night was show light and dark at the same time.  Also I seemed more appreciative of it.  Lastly, I want to get so0me more experience with photography in any light.

Night at Times Square - Roberto

For our last trip, we went to Times Square in NYC.  This trip was different from many others because instead of leaving in the morning and spending the day, we left in the afternoon and spent the night.  By taking pictures at night, I was able to take many photos that I would not be able to during the day.  For example, in two of my photos, I was able to capture bright, flashy lights, while maintaining a very dark background.  Doing this in bright daylight would not be possible.  Also, taking pictures in Times Square helped.  There were colorful and bright lights all around, giving many of my photos more variety in color overall.

Street Photography by Carlos Ivan Espinal

Street Photography in the New York City High Line was a little challenging for me because most of the time you only had one chance to take the perfect photograph. In our previous trips we had the opportunity to take several shots of the same subject but this time that was not the case, so it was a whole new experience. It was a very cloudy and rainy day in New York City that day so I had to set up my ISO to 1600 and my EV to 0. My favorite photograph from this trip is the photo of a man taking a photo of the view. I waited in the same spot for about 5 minutes for someone to stand in the ring spot for me to take the photograph.  The man knew about photography so he was standing in the perfect spot for his own photograph and that created perfect valance for my photo. The second photo  I chose was a snap shot but it happened to be a very good photograph. I was just walking down the streets and  I decided to take random photographs and this one  just simply happened to be a very good photo. Though street photography was challenging, it was a great experience and I learned something new.

Street photograph

During the trip to New York the class walked on the high line which stretched from 14th street to 28th street. During the walk i decided to take a picture of a woman who was taking a picture of a building. I put the exposure value at -1 to darken the picture and show more details of the woman. I did not want to walk up so I actually zoomed in a was able to catch her not looking at me. The second picture i saw a man looking into nothing. This was a perfect time to take a picture. The beams are in a perfect place, because they are leading to his face. The exposure vale was at -0.3 to make it darker to show more details but not to make it to dark.
