Street Photography New York - Chris Alicea

The photo of the two lovebirds taking a selfie was taken from behind. As soon as I saw them, I knew that was a perfect opportunity to capture their moment where they themselves were doing the same. I felt like a stalker because I'm sure they knew I rushed there and took multiple shots of them since the beginning of the High Line. What was worse was the fact that I was in the background of their selfie; ruining their special moment.

The photo of the group of friends was taken with their permission. They seemed like close friends enjoying their time together. Since this was my first shot with consent, I noticed the awkwardness in the air amongst themselves when the camera was pointed at them. Though it was uncomfortable for me too, I stated the obvious that of course taking photos of strangers was weird, which reassured myself and the group of friends that its just a photo.
